With the summer months almost getting away from us, now is
the time to enjoy this month’s outdoor events near Roosevelt Island! Check out
what’s happening in the coming weeks near the Octagon below.
Lincoln Center Out of Doors – For it’s 49th year, the Lincoln Center Out Doors Festival has returned to the city, with shows running from now until Sunday, August 11. The festival brings the music of Lincoln Center outside to the surrounding plazas and features performances by Wilco frontman Jeffy Tweedy, MTV & Save The Music featuring R&B singer H.E.R. and singer/songwriter Samm Henshaw. Although the festival is free, donations to the center are welcome to help continue these events year after year.
Harlem Week 2019 – What started as ‘Harlem Day’ 45 years ago has now developed into Harlem Week, demonstrating the neighborhood’s growth and development in economic, political, and cultural history. From Wednesday, August 28 – Saturday, August 31st, celebrate Harlem Week with a number of activities taking place in the neighborhood, such as a 5k, an outdoor film festival, spelling bee, auto show, Harlem Restaurant Week and Harlem Jazz and Music Festival.
