This July 14, we will celebrate the 231st anniversary of
Bastille Day, which is the anniversary of the Storming of the Bastille in 1789,
a turning point of the French Revolution. However, you don’t need to have even
stepped on French soil to celebrate – instead, you can head to one of the many
French eateries we have in our Octagon neighborhood.

Jean Claude 2, located at 1343 2nd Ave, New York which is 14 minutes from your Octagon
apartment, is a warm-colored bistro dishing up classic French fare in a
relaxed, colorful space.
The tables at Jean Claude 2 are often
occupied by a leisurely crowd of multilingual locals chatting with the servers
in French. In true Continental style, servers will gladly leave you to linger
over your tarte tatin and Muscat for as long as you like — which will almost
certainly be awhile.
Cafe Triskell, located at 33-04 36th Ave, Astoria which is 11 minutes from your
Octagon apartment, is a compact, casual French cafe serving sweet and savory
crepes plus a small menu of bistro staples.
Chef and owner Philippe Fallait, originally
from Bretagne, France, established Cafe Triskell in 2007. He was eager to return
