There’s nothing like a glass of hot apple cider in the midst of autumn
– especially if that cider is homemade right from the orchard. Being that the Roosevelt
Island area is full of hip bars and restaurants, we’re lucky to live by lots of
destinations featuring local cider, and even hard cider, all season long.
If you’re looking for that perfect glass of cider, check out these
nearby places for a sip you’re sure to savor all season long. It’ll be
difficult to return to the typical glass of wine or beer after these ciders!
Descendant Cider Company, located at 52-5
Flushing Ave, Maspeth which is 18 minutes from your Octagon apartment, only
makes ciders that are produced with fruit sourced from the Hudson Valley.
They believe in crafting a product by hand, with natural
ingredients, so they don’t ferment concentrate, add artificial essences
and they don’t use any unnatural products for shelf life stability. Some of
their ciders include a sparkling semi-dry, a dry pomegranate with distilled hibiscus
and a semi-dry ginger and cardamom.
Redbyrd Orchard Cider, located at 349 5th Ave, New York which is 16 minutes

and planted their first orchards in 2003. They grow heirloom, wild seedling,
and cider apples to produce distinct hand-crafted orchard-based ciders.
