Labor Day Weekend in the City

August 30, 2019

The summer may have flown by, but it’s not over yet! Now it the time to make plans for Labor Day Weekend to celebrate the close of summer in the city. Check out some of the events below to see what’s happening near the Octagon, and keep those fingers crossed for a few more warm weeks into September.

Final Warm Up Party at MoMA PS1 – Celebrate the close of the summer season with the last Warm Up Party at MoMA PS1 in Long Island City. A New York City staple since 1998, the Warm Up party features a day of live electronic music going from 12pm – 9pm, with this final party of the season happening Saturday, August 31st .

Labor Day at Riis Park Beach Bazaar –What better way is there to celebrate LDW than by going to the beach? If you’re heading to the shore, might as well go to Jacob Riis Park to take in some sun and relax at the Beach Bazaar. For the last unofficial weekend of the summer, the Beach Bazaar will be hosting a Labor Day Party on September 2nd kicking off at 12pm with live DJ music, and plenty of food and drinks.

West Indian Day Parade and Carnival – The West Indian Day Parade may not be your traditional Labor Day activity, but it’s certainly one you won’t want to miss! The parade takes place Monday, September 2nd and the march starts at 11am on Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn. During the seven-hour carnival, listen to live music from steel-pan and calypso bands, and enjoy delicious Caribbean-inspired food and drinks.
