NYC Broadway Week, Unicycle Festival and More September Events Near Roosevelt Island

Looking for something exciting to do in September in the city? We’ve got you covered, from a unique tour of Roosevelt Island to New York City Broadway Week, there’s lots to do this month near The Octagon.

Exploring Roosevelt Island, From Abandoned Laboratories to Landmarked Ruins

If you’ve seen the red tram shuttling back and forth on Roosevelt Island, you’ve probably wondered what it’s all about. This Sept. 10, tickets are available for the New York Adventure Club’s tour of Roosevelt Island. The tour will give an in depth overview of Roosevelt Island, once called Hog Island by the Dutch.

New York City Broadway Week

When you live at The Octagon, you have easy access to all New York City has to offer and this year’s Broadway Week is no exception. This Sept. 6-25, Broadway show tickets are 2-for-1 for select shows. See the full list of shows taking part in NYC Broadway Week.

NYC Unicycle Festival

Four days of “one-wheel madness” are set this Sept. 1-4 in NYC for the 13th Annual NYC Unicycle Festival, 

NYC is set for the 13th Annual NYC Unicycle Festival, a four day festival of “one-wheel madness.” The brainchild of Bindlestiff Family Variety Arts, Inc., the NYC Unicycle Festival is a convergence of thousands of recreational riders, world-class performers, mountain and off-road unicycle enthusiasts and inventors. 

The festival will tour the city starting with Central Park, then to Coney Island, Queens and finally Manhattan for the final day. Here is the full schedule:

Thursday, Sept 1: 10:30 am to 3 pm (approx)

Battery Park to Central Park

Long Distance Rides 

Friday, Sept 2: 2 pm to 6 pm (approx)

Brooklyn Bridge to Coney Island

Long Distance Rides

Saturday, Sept 3: Noon to 5 pm

Seven Gables Playground and Cunningham Park, Queens

One Wheel activities including Mountain Unicycle, Learn-to-Ride, Unicycle Basketball, and more

Sunday, Sept 4: 1pm to 5pm

Grants Tomb, Manhattan

A casual day of rolling at the home of the NYC Unicycle Club
