Gracie Mansion Conservancy, located at E
88th St &, East End Ave, New York which is 16 minutes from your Octagon
apartment, is one of the oldest surviving wood structures in Manhattan and home
to the sitting mayors of New York City and their families since 1942, when the
LaGuardia’s arrived as the first official residents.
The beautiful property is open year-round for tours and makes for a
great destination you can check out without spending too much time in the cold.
Plus, they also have rotating exhibits, so there’s always something new to see
Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden, located at 421 E 61st St, New York
which is 12 minutes from your Octagon apartment, is a historic stone former
carriage house and hotel offering a look at 19th-century New York life.
Constructed in 1799 as a carriage house for a 23-acre estate and
converted into the Mount Vernon Hotel in 1826, this stone building sits on land
originally owned by Colonel William Stephens Smith and his wife Abigail Adams
Smith, daughter of John Adams.
